DIY lacquered Boxes

This is a quick and easy project that is also very inexpensive.  I needed some accessories to fill shelves in the young girl’s room that I have been posting about, and of course, there wasn't much left in the budget.  So I took a trip to the dollar store and found these pressed cardboard boxes.

When I saw these I thought I could make them look like lacquered boxes.  I knew I wanted them to have contrast with the pale pink walls, so I decided on black with a band of pink.

I started by painting the boxes with a band of the pink.

Then taped off the band of pink that I wanted to show, and then spray painted the whole box in black.

This is how they turned out.
